Santa Brice

Brice was asked this year to play Santa for Landin’s school’s Christmas Programs. They provided him with a costume, and he dressed-up for the part.

At the end of each program (there were two), the principal would tell the audience that they had a special guest; the pianist would start in on “here comes Santa Clause” and Brice would come into the auditorium Ho Ho Ho’ing. Then Santa Brice sat in a chair next to the stage, and the kids lined-up to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what they wanted for Christmas. Most of the big kids knew it was Brice, but it was pretty cute to see the little ones in awe. Some were scared, but most were really excited to see Santa at their school. Brice handed out candy canes and after all the kids had had their turn, the adults took their’s. Our friend Eric couldn't wait to sit on Santa's lap...I even got a kiss on the belly from Santa.Brice changed out of his costume, and came back into the gym where the kids and I were waiting for him. Landin knew what was up, but Ryder was certain that Santa had been there, and that Brice had missed him (Brice was supposedly not feeling well, and was laying down in the Principal’s office during the big visit).

Brice had a great time playing Santa, and it was a nice push in getting into the spirit of Christmas. When we got home, Brice spent some time explaining to Landin how Santa can’t be everywhere at once, and that he had asked Brice to go to Southside in his place so that Brice could report back to the real Santa what the kids said they wanted for Christmas, and who was naughty and who was nice. Landin replied, “Yah, that was nice of you. I bet Santa is super busy making toys since Christmas is only a few more days away. He couldn’t leave the north pole now anyway.”

That’s right son… Santa is a busy man! Ho Ho Ho!!
